About Us

Our Pledge

Here at Bert’s Motor Works, we value our customers and understand that customers have a choice where they go for auto repair. We are personally committed to providing our customers with quality repairs at a fair price, while maintaining their vehicles and communicating with honesty and integrity.

Our current location circa 1990.

A name you can trust since 1958

Westchester residents have relied on the Hurns family to keep their cars, truck and vans on the road for two generations. Upon retiring from the U.S. Army, Captain John W. Hurns Jr., opened his gas & service station in Elmsford in 1958. The business moved to its current location on Main Street in 1971 where Bert and his brother spent their summers stripping and cleaning car engines.

In 1990, after attending St, John’s University on a Track & Field scholarship and spending some time using his marketing degee, Bert followed in The Captain’s footsteps and opened Bert’s Motor Works.

Our Commitment to our customers

Bert has been caring for his customer’s vehicles with the same passion, dedication and expertise as his father. He knows that his business is built on the confidence of his customers and the competence of his staff. “I learned how to treat people with respect, as if they were part of my own family and to always go the extra mile.”
