Founded in 1961 by John W. Hurns, Jr., aka “Capt”, the business has evolved and grown into one of the most respected auto-repair businesses in Westchester.

In 1981, the torch was passed to his son, Bert, who founded Bert’s Motor Works, Inc. Bert’s bigger and better now, although it still carries that old flavor originated by his father. In fact, Bert’s is one of the few remaining service stations that doesn’t have self-service pumps.

According to Bert, “We prefer the personal touch, where else can you go today and while your gas is being pumped, your windshields are cleaned and your oil checked. We simply check the essentials so that we can help prevent problems that may evolve down the road.”
